Bonita Avenue and Iglesia Traffic Signal and Traffic Calming Project Update

Beginning in mid-November,  the City's contractor began Phase 1 of the Bonita Avenue Signal and Traffic Calming Improvement Project. The weather delayed the initial project schedule; however, the City anticipates installation of the new light poles next week and completion of Phase 1 early in the new year.

This project marks the beginning of the Bonita Avenue corridor traffic calming enhancements. Phase 1 includes the installation of a new traffic signal, concrete bulb-outs, new short landscaped median and upgraded wheelchair access ramps at Bonita and Iglesia Street intersection. The improvements will result in a highly visible shorter signal-controlled pedestrian crossing across Bonita Avenue.

In mid-January, the City anticipates the contractor commencing on Phase 2 of the project, which is to demolish the existing temporary and permanent concrete improvements at Bonita  Avenue and Exchange Place, and Bonita Avenue and Monte Vista.  Phase 2 will also consist of installing new street lights and concrete bulb-outs, as well as upgrading wheelchair access ramps,  stamped concrete sidewalks and landscaping.  These improvements will result in highly visible intersections and shorter crosswalks.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause. Every attempt will be made to expedite the project so as to minimize the impact on residents and business owners.

Your cooperation and attention to temporary traffic control signs, markings and speeds will greatly assist in helping the Public Works Department to expedite the completion of this project.  If you have any questions, please contact Public Works at (909) 394-6240.

San Dimas Dial-a-Cab & Get About Helps Residents on the Go!

The City uses a portion of its Proposition A funds, a County-wide sales tax fund, to sponsor local transportation services for its residents. One transportation service available to San Dimas residents is San Dimas Dial-a-Cab. San Dimas Dial-a-Cab is a program that uses shared-ride taxis to provide transportation and is available to anyone in San Dimas. Dial-a-Cab is easy to use and operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. San Dimas Dial-a-Cab is able to pick up San Dimas residents within approximately 45 minutes and drive them anywhere within the City. Disabled persons or those who are 60 years of age or older may also travel to limited boundaries outside San Dimas. The fare for senior and disabled riders to travel one way within the City or beyond City limits is $1. The general public traveling within the City pays $2.50 for a one way fare and will be able to travel outside San Dimas to approved medical facilities for $4. Senior and disabled customers may be required to provide Dial-a-Cab drivers with appropriate identification. Proper identification includes a Get About membership card, reduced fare identification from any public transit operator or a DMV Disabled Person I.D. Card.

Another transportation service available to San Dimas residents is Get About. Get About is a dial-a-ride service for people aged 60 years or older or with a disability. This service is a door-to-door service. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available.
